Default Silhouette Portrait Vs Cameo Questions

Ok I am finally breaking down and buying a Silhouette Portrait or the Silhouette Cameo. Right now the Portrait because of the price- 100 less.

So what kind of help can you girls give me on these machines?

What else do I need to purchase when I buy the machine so I can start using it right away? Depending on this answer I may be able to get the Cameo but an extra 100 is a lot of money.

I mainly make cheer bows but later (much later) I want to move into t-shirts and other cheer stuff.

Thanks!!

I believe the Cameo has a larger work space (20" vs. 15" width). Check overstock.com. My husband got an amazing deal on mine for Christmas ($219 vs. $299).

I would order tshirt vinyl to get you started. Www.expressionsvinyl.com is great to work with and lots of great tips on how to cut their product.

My best advice, order an additional blade and mat. I use mind a lot and I believe I am about in need of investing in both. I have been using mine for about 2 months now.

I cannot give you a review on the Portrait, perhaps someone else can.

It was by far completely worth the investment. After you sell approximately 15-20 bows, it will about pay for itself.

seems a bunch of us are looking to get the Silhouette, lol, hoping to purchase mine this weekend.....i cant wait....im going to watch some videos to see what else this machine can do.... i am assuming bow makers use it primary to cut out embellishments ie.. slogans, names etc to put onto the bows...i also want to use for blinging temps...lol
i wish there was a machine that could cut the ribbon and fabric for the base of the bows....or i need to get a better rotary hehehe

hello ladies,
I have the cameo for more than 6 monthes now and it is still in the box. I know that i can use it for papers; like making cards, boxes and other things but i don't know how to use it for making bows or other things that goes with my items. I really really would like to take it out of the box and start using it so, can you tell me what do you use it for? and if you have any TUT or videos that will be apreciated. TIA
