Default First order! Help! 475 mini bows!

Hey ladies!

My daughter is in the after school recreational cheer program, county wide they have about 475 kids and the director just hired me to make their bows for their end of the year show! I am stoked but totally freaked out. Would you make about 20 a day or do them in sections like cutting, heat treating and putting together. I need some input!

Thanks!

Congrats on such a large order. I always work in sections. cutting, heat sealing....etc. seems like it makes it go way faster. HTH

It's a mix for me actually. For example I complete 20 per day, but I would cut 20, heat seal them, assemble... make sense? that is just me though. Good luck!

Ive found when putting together big orders likebthat its easier for me to do them assembly line wtyle and much easier! So each night i do different parts of it. One night cutting, one night lining clips etc....
Congrats on your first big order!

Thanks ladies! My husband is worried that when its crunch time he will end up helping me in my time of need, thankfully they are not needed until May so that is good, I think if I just make a schedule of things to do I will be fine! Do you recommend Ribbon Retreat Wholesale site for the purchase of the ribbon?

I would definitely not keep telling myself that they're not needed until May. I'm the type of person that would let May sneak up on me, then be stuck doing a lot ina a little bit fo time!! I would def do it in steps. Maybe cut/seal ribbonwhile you're watching TV at night. Thats a lot of bows and if they're all the exact same bow, you will get bored real fast! I would make 20 bows, then work on a nother step. Maybe get as many as you can done early, then you have time at the end if you need a break?!?!? I would also say TRRW would be a good place to order a big amount of ribbon. Good luck and congrats on such a big order! I've made 30 matching cheer bows, but thats about all I could handle!!

Ribbon Retreat Wholesale has excellent customer service and is the cheapest I have found (at least on the 3" grosgrain) with the best quality. Their shipping is also lightning fast.

I would definitely assembly line it, at least 100 pcs at a time, if not all. Plus this way you don't have to store 475 folded bows. Right now I have 2 gym orders of 140 bows each & I am doing the lot of them as an assembly line. cut the ribbon, then HNB & cut fabric, iron, iron and more iron, then cut and seal ends, mark & fold. Once they are folded, they go right into the shipping boxes and out the door..this way they don't sit around getting smooshed and squished. I know yours are mini bows but 475 will still take up alot of space.
Good Luck with it!!
