I also use either 4 or 5 curls and cut them with my woodburner! And I use about 40 - although I make a "light" version of my 4-curl korkers and only use 24 pieces - they are not as round, but they are lighter and my customers with little ones like them this way!
The best advice I got about korkers was on here from a fellow HG - after your korker is assembled and on your clip, spray them with starch and hang them upside down to dry. Fluff anytime you walk by!! I can't tell you how many korkers I burned in the oven after starching them!!
