I've always found that the 1.5" ribbon is a little tougher to work with than the 7/8, so the base bow in the twisted takes a little more effort.
When creating your loops, angle them very vertically so the loops are nice and perky. In one of your pictures, it looks like the top right loop on the base bow might even have been twisted in the wrong direction -- the others look fine.
Shaping is also key! Sometimes a bow will look kind of limp and flat until you tug and pull and shape it so it stands up nicely. And a coat of Stiffen-Quik never hurts!
I think you're on your way to making some really nice bows...just a tweak here and there!
