I have a business license, tax ID and charge sales tax for any sale I make in my home state. I got the license, because 9 years ago when I opened up and wanted to do a craft fair in my home town, they required a license and tax number. And I file taxes every year and my accountant wanted me to report my ebay sales. PLUS, I found out that the IRS was checking on ebay sellers not reporting taxes. So I decided to just be safe instead of sorry. I am not aware of hobby businesses. So I will have to plead ignorance there. Could be true! But anyway, good luck with your business!!
