Sewing them together worked way better for me than tying ever did. And I just use a little scotch tape at the end of mine instead of clothes pins. I've done it that way for years - the tape doesn't melt or leave residue on the ribbon. Occasionally it sticks & I just cut off the last 1/4 inch of ribbon that has tape on it. And I can get WAY more dowels in at one time for baking because they just lay flat next to each other.
