I would go to etsy and look up some resin flatbacks and scroll through to see if you find anything that looks a little more organic. Remember there are always sellers on there who will customize your stuff! YOu could go with some vintage looking cameos, old celluloid buttons in a nice shape. I LOVE the metal beads for this. You can sometimes find metal flower shapes that can be sewn, but I glue them to mine. Adults purchase these more often than kids! Roses, daisies (or something similar but not too girly) and , uh, just shapes show up sometimes amidst the jewelry section. Connectors or beads. Yum

These below are pretty dang girly, but just to show you these are metal beads. You could go for something flat also!
rhinestonejewelry sells them with some designs that are pretty basic. but they are sparkly. you could go for something like that, just sparkle free if you don't need to glam it up.
