Default Question about my camera...

I just recently noticed that my camera (it's a Canon PowerShot) will not work with rechargeable batteries any more. I can put brand new, newly charged batteries in it, and it will give me the 'change the batteries' message. However, it works just fine with regular non-rechargeable batteries. (And NOT the cheap store brand batteries either! Only the non-rechargeable Rayovak and Energizer! Blah!)

This is quite frustrating as I don't want to keep buying batteries for it!

I know it's time for a new camera. (This one is almost 5 years old!) But I'm just baffled as to why rechargeable batteries will not work all of a sudden!

Any ideas?
