I use 6" for all sizes of tutus. Just change up the length and how much tulle I use. I don't do the dresses, but for the skirts I do about 6-7" lenghts. Depending on the look I'm going for. As for knots, it's a personal pref. I don't double them, but some people like it better. HTH
