Something else on the spikes, especially if using a thinner ribbon like UB or wrights, you'll really want to starch it. I find if each layer is starched (or baked) then the shape will hold. Then just make sure each layer is lined up. I tend to put my bows together "backwards" so it's the top bow, the surrounds, then the spikes, then the base bow. Lynn's tutorial is awesome too on lining it up and the creasing!
