I haven't bought the e-book, haven't even seen it I don't think. I made a pair once. Super simple if you can sew a straight line!
Cut off the length at the ankle (leaving about a half inch or so for seam allowance)
cut your ribbons, fold them over and pin to the jeans matching up the raw edges.
sew them on.
fold under your seam allowance and top stitch.
Add trim if desired.
viola!
