Default Wrong kind of ribbon?

Hi, I'm new to making bows and I think I've got some wrong kind of ribbons. I'm not sure what the proper name is, but it's smooth to touch. Very much like the kind of ribbon people use to put on gift but not as stiff. I've tried using it to make the basic bow, as well as the pinwheel. But they just didn't look right. I've thought that it's probably my bow making skill. But when I used grosgrain ribbon to make these bows, they all look right. What's going on? Am I not suppose to use these ribbons to make bows? Or there are different ways to make bows using this type of ribbons? I've got several rows of these ribbons from Michaels and now I'm not sure what to do with them. Please help me.
