I use an exacto knife and carefully cut thru that iron-on backing. Once you get a little bit of it peeled up, you can use your fingernail and pull it right off. Then you can hot glue it to your clippies.
I also use the Aleene's Platinum Bond Textile Adhesive...grey tube sold in the glue aisle. Very similar to E6000...and works like a dream. I've been told that roughing up the backing with sandpaper is helpful to getting good adhesion. Hope this helps!
