I used a wooden piece of wood from Micheals and two small flat dowels. I cut the dowel and glued to the piece of wood to make 13 slots on the top and then marked on the dowels where the end of the alligator clip was. I can "load" the 13 ribbons into the slots, place glue, clip, glue, fold over, repeat all the way down, then turn over and finish them off. It works great with glue and I don't have anything on the bottom of my wood as I just hold it in my hand and then turn it over
