I was calculating the amount they should charge before tacking on the paypal fees.
Example: total before paypal fees: $71.69 x 2.9% = 2.08 + .30 = $2.38
$2.38 is what paypal should be charging me if I was only sent $71.69 but of course they are sending me the $71.69 + $2.38 which equals $74.07 that I'm recieving. So paypal is using the $74.07 as a jumping off point, which is correct and I was using $71.69 as a jumping off point, which is incorrect. And here I thought I was uncovering a vast paypal conspiracy!
