I don't know what one you are looking at, but make sure it heats hot enough. I bought one when I first started and I liked it, but the residue that was left behind would get black and gooey, and leave marks on my ribbon. People told me just to let it sit for a few minutes and the residue would burn off. But it never did.

When my puppy chewed the plug off mine, I went looking for a new one. The original I had heated to something like 650. The new one heats to something over 900. I don't have any problems with the black residue now. Hope that helps
