Well, my experience is that unfortunately Ebay seems to be a lot faster to sell. Etsy can be quite slow. Mind you, I haven't been on etsy all that long though so I have to give a chance. Ebay's fees are a pain in the butt but I've just lifted my prices a bit to cover the cost.
Why don't you start up an etsy store and see how it goes and if you're not happy then go to ebay.
