Love my Nikon D90. But it's not just the camera -- you'll want to decide on your lenses (usually the kit lens doesn't give the pro look you're desiring). I love my 50mm f/1.4 lens -- takes a GREAT portrait.

You'll also need to look into software, too. Photoshop elements is great.
