I think grosgrain is definately easier to work with...I also saw that you were new and I wanted to suggest bow making templates to you as well
there is a boow making tool called the brilliant bow maker that I used as sort of "training wheels" to my basic bows. I am left handed and it was absolutely horrible trying to figure out how to do certain folds (such as the twisted boutique bow) I freehand fold my bows now but every once in a while I whip out my templates because I love them
. Good luck in your bow making adventures, just be patient and don't get discouraged it takes a lot of practice!
and I agree keep your satin ribbon! You will use it eventually!
