The shadows don't bother me in this picture and if there is any, they're hardly noticable. I just wish this picture was brighter because I took it outside when the sun was on the other side of the house...

What's a better background other than white? I see pictures online that are so good and bright and don't know how people take them successfully with an "ordinary" camera..
