I bake all my pieces separately and then glue together and wrap with thread and glue my center on. I don't bake my spikes though, I figure they aren't changing shape, they stay flat.

Hope that helps, curious to see how others do it.

ETA: I only bake my twisted center, loopies, and bottom pinwheel (I use pinwheels on the bottom instead of a large twisted)

Don't work for free under the guise of good exposure. It is bad exposure. If you don't value your own work, neither will anyone else.
